Fabric painting Using fabric paints allows
you to create some stunning pieces of work; fabric paints can be used
on a variety of fabrics. The paints can be used for painting, stencilling
and printing. Printing and stencilling are the easiest forms of painting;
they are very versatile, and ideal for beginners in fabric painting.

You can buy stencils from DIY shops, or, if you feel confident, you can create one yourself from card. There are boxed sets of fabric paints that are particularly cheap, and safe for younger children to use, and more sophisticated metallic ones. You can also buy tubes of squeezy paint that can give you special effects, such as those which puff up when heat is applied (use your hairdryer carefully so you don’t cause a fire!). This gives a bold outline and a raised surface to your painting. |
