Hi Paradox, tell us a bit about how you became interested in music?
Well, it started with my mother, she was very into music growing up, all kinds of music, very eclectic and it just went from there. And then, when I moved out of home, music was my company as well, and I got more and more and more into it. And then I liked the expression, I’m a sucker for words, I like to listen to the words, I like to listen to the way a track is put together, and it’s just gone from there.

   Which musicians influence your music?
I wouldn’t be able to put into words, who my influences are, because I’d be here all day. There’s many different areas and genres of music that I’m influenced by. If I was to say three off the top of my head, one would be Nina Simone, another would be Most Def, the third would be Yaz Alexander.

What genre does your music fit into?

I want to make a music from every genre that I know and that’s influenced me. It’s , Daniel Beddingfield, he’s hard to be pigeonholed ‘cause he’s done a rock track, he’s done a ballad, he’s done a garage track. I, my first and foremost, I do not want to be pigeonholed; I just want to make music, whatever vibe hits me at that time.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
In five years' time I think that I will be a recording artist, live artist, be running my own label, and video production. I’ll be basically putting albums out and touring and teaching and studying.

Tell us what the music technology course you are doing at DEP Studios in Birmingham has done for you?
This course has been good because it’s shown me, how a professional studio’s run and you know, the onus that time is money so the professional side of things. Also it’s been a good opportunity for networking with the engineers and things like that, and the last thing is my confidence – it’s done a lot for my confidence.

How have you found working in groups or with other people?
It’s been good to work with other musicians because they bring out the creativity in me and also we bounce off each other and they inspire me as well.

So, what’s next in your musical career?
Well next I’ll be concentrating on live performances, furthering my knowledge of the industry, and furthering my knowledge of technology and teaching.

Do you think you have gained something on that course that you could not have learnt by yourself, out there in the world?
Yeah, of course, I definitely do, as I say, I’ve learnt more about the business, how to market myself and basically what it entails a lot more. I’ve had a lot of inside look at how things are run within the music business and I’m glad for that experience.
